However, as a new empire rises from the ashes of the fallen Maya, a foreign, ruthless civilization with plans to dominate the land begins to invade the once-protected jungle. This new threat, led by a merciless conqueror (played by Michael Peña), forces Jaguar Paw to make a choice: fight and protect his family and tribe or risk the extinction of his people by remaining hidden.

Among the refugees is Soo-ji (Jung Yu-mi), a woman with a mysterious past and a young daughter (Kim Soo-ahn) who has a unique connection to the origins of the infection.
