The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, released in 2014, is the third and final film in the trilogy based on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien. Directed by Peter Jackson, the film concludes the journey of Bilbo Baggins and his companions in a story full of action, adventure and emotion.

The film takes place immediately after the events of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, where the dragon Smaug, awakened, threatens Lake-town. With the dragon’s death, various forces — dwarves, elves, men and even creatures of darkness — converge on the Lonely Mountain in search of Smaug’s hoard of treasure. The conflict culminates in the Battle of the Five Armies, where loyalties are tested and heroes emerge.
