The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022) – Trailer | Starring: Morfydd Clark, Robert Aramayo, Charlie Vickers, Cynthia Addai-Robinson

Set thousands of years before The Fellowship of the Ring, this epic series takes viewers back to the Second Age of Middle-earth. Kingdoms rise and fall, heroes are forged, and ancient powers awaken as the Dark Lord Sauron begins to cast his shadow.

The trailer teases sweeping landscapes, breathtaking battles, and the forging of the legendary rings that will shape the fate of elves, men, and dwarves for centuries. With alliances tested and darkness looming, Middle-earth’s destiny is written in fire and steel.
“Before the Fellowship… before the King… a power was forged that changed everything.”

The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premiered on Amazon Prime Video on August 29, 2024, with eight episodes released weekly until October 3, 2024. Set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, it follows the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron (Charlie Vickers) as he deceives the Elves into creating more Rings of Power to dominate Middle-earth. The season builds toward the Siege of Eregion, featuring large-scale battles and key characters like Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), and Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards).

Filmed in the UK and the Canary Islands, the season retained much of the first season’s cast and was directed by Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri, and Louise Hooper, with J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay as showrunners. Bear McCreary’s score and the visuals received praise, though reviews were mixed on pacing and writing, with some noting improvements over Season 1. Viewership was high but lower than the first season, and audience reception was reportedly more positive. The season earned a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy nomination.
