[REC]⁴: Apocalypse is the final installment in the acclaimed Spanish horror franchise directed by Jaume Balagueró. Departing from the found-footage style of its predecessors, this chapter adopts a traditional cinematic approach while retaining the series’ intense atmosphere.​

The film picks up immediately after the events of [REC]², with television reporter Ángela Vidal (Manuela Velasco) rescued from the quarantined apartment building. She awakens aboard a quarantined oil tanker, where scientists, led by Dr. Ricarte (Héctor Colomé), attempt to study and contain the demonic virus. However, when the infection resurfaces, chaos ensues, leading to a desperate fight for survival.
